Craft for Day Two

Today I drove to Tustin...I repeat...I DROVE to Tustin. Woo Hoo! I didn't get lost, it was smooth sailin' the whole way! (granted, it's like 5 miles away, but it's further than the disastrous Joann's trip that I attempted to go to last week). My friend Emily told me about a quilt store there, and it's been sad that I haven't been to a cute fabric store since we've lived here. My mom LOVES fabric stores, so that was our days adventure...we went to Flying Geese, along with playing at the Beach and going to YogurtLand! Anyways, I have zero Easter Decorations, so when we saw these at Flying Geese, we decided that it was a fun little quick project, and aren't they sooo cute? Our Fat Quarter Easter Egg Pillows!
I love them on my cute little bench!

Day one with Mom!

Mom's here...woo hoo! Here's a little bit of what we did today... Feed the birds, tuppence a bag. We haven't fed the ducks since we lived in Tempe, so today we went on a duck hunt of sorts. We found two...and fed them weirdo organic crackers that Max won't eat and hot dog buns from 7-11. yum yum. Max threw a few pieces , and then macked on the rest of the bun. And while we were walking around HB Central Park, Mar Mar was so excited to find Sweet Gum Balls from the Sweet Gum Tree! She wanted to make a wreath with them, so Max helped her collect all the pokey little balls. He loved it!

Check out all of them on the ground! and in the trees!

Then we went to the park, came home, had lunch, played for a bit and put Max down for his nap: and let the festivities begin: We made Fabric Flower Corsage Pins for Easter Sunday...Ivy's blessing day. One for me, and one for each Grandma.
and I finished off Ivy's blessing shoes...they had those little pink rose buds on them, and I just replaced them with big-ums bows!

We're just filling up the time with fun things until Ivy comes!

Jelly Beans!

I was feeling bad that Ivy wasn't going to get much in her Easter Basket, compared to Maxer... not that she would notice, but still. Anyways, in the nick of time, my sister, Brandy comes to the rescue as always with this link:
Making Jelly Bean Bean Bags out of felt.
Felt is sooo cheap, and I thought it would be a fun thing for her when she's a little older... and Max will dig all the colors. Sooo I thought I'd post them on here before Easter so that anybody else that wants to make a whole treasure chest of sugarless jelly beans can get to it and have it ready for the Easter Bunny.
A little obsessive, but they're so easy, I sort of want to make more with different colors! hee hee
thanks again...as always, to Brandy for the great idea

What the devil are those?

The funny thing is, I really don't know...I wish this is what it looked like when I looked down. Unfortunately, I had to stick out my booty and look down in order to see my little piggys poking out behind this huge beast of a tummy. Lovin' the bump, but really...she can get the heck out of dodge any old time now!

Ivy Circle

A month of two ago, I spotted this street on the way to church. I've wanted to walk my little booty over there ever since, but just haven't. It didn't seem that far away--but it was a little further on foot than I imagined. My friends humored me, and along with our husbands (yep, Jeffer, too) we took a walk on the wild side of Beach to see Ivy Circle. So fun! Thought it would make a cute picture to frame in black and white some day.
Here's me and the not so little Ivy who better be gettin' ready to make her appearance dang soon...

Baby Leggings!

K, Tara...I did 'em!
Modeled by pretty little Hailey from next door, here are my completed cupcake leggings...I love them. I also did a light pink pair and a black pair with the HUGEST crown on the booty that you ever did see! So many fun things to make, and time is running out!
Thanks for the idea!

My Polka Dot Baby Shower

I had my baby shower tonight and it was soooo fun! First of all, my friends have been hard at work for the past few weeks putting all the details together, and they did such a good job. From the invitation, you can see, that they had it all covered...Polka Dots Galore...even down to the circular invitations!!! We had the classic cake and ice cream, but my clever cohorts couldn't just serve it the good ole fashioned way: so we had polka dot ice cream... otherwise known as Mochi Balls, which is some sort of Japanese Dessert that they sell at Trader Joes, which are surprisingly yummy...and hilarious to eat. A must try...especially if you ask Jeff.
...and not just plain-old un-romantic slices of cake, but yummy Cake Balls, to go with the polka dot theme that were soooo cute! (and way too yummy, too)

They planned every little thing down to covering the water bottles with zebra paper and ribbon to match. My friends are pretty stinkin' crafty, and they rub off on me, which is so fun!
When you walked in the front door...This is what you saw...Holy cute set-up, batman! Polka dot plates napkins, even!
We played a multi-taskin' momma game...which I am sad to announce, I didn't win...Dang it! Congrats, Lindsay! Where we had to talk on a cell phone, hold a baby doll and hang random articles of clothing on a clothes line whilst in the midst of a horrible storm (the clothesline was wiggling all over the place) Person to hang the most stuff in a minute won!
and so many really fun gifts! I feel so blessed to have so many talented and giving friends already in California! So many people worked so hard to make it amazing...and it was! Thanks, guys!!! I love you all!

Aquarium of the Pacific

This week our Young Women got to go to the Aquarium of the Pacific--and us leaders got to bring our kids! One of the leaders is a diver there, and she feeds the sharks, etc, so she got our whole troop in for free. Holy Cow! Max L-O-V-E-s to see fishys and sharks, so we were really excited to get to go for a few hours. Just like we did at the San Diego Wild Animal Park (which was my favorite part, by the way) we got to feed the Lorikeets...They kept them open long enough just for us to go feed them. Those birds are so awesome, and Max loved to feed them! Here are Max and his friends looking at the Sharks...they got to put their hands in the water and touch them...
(Merrick, Berkleigh, Max and Saxon)Here's Our Leader! Kim pulled a fast one on us and dove into a tank with the sharks and Guitar fish, etc...It was so fun because she was able to talk to us, with a mic in her mask and tell us about the fish in this HUGE tank. Then, the aquarium closed, and she took us behind the scenes and we were able to feed the fish and sharks that she was just swimming with. What a cool job!

Such a fun activity, thanks, Kim, for taking us all!!!

Green Eggs and Ham

Like many people in our ward, we are part of a dinner co-op, which means that each of 4 girls choose a night to cook...and we cook for all 4 families. My night is Tuesday night, which means that I was lucky enough to get St. Patrick's Day on my night! So, thanks to Everyday with Rachael Ray, we made Green Eggs and Ham for everyone for dinner. ha ha. Hers looked prettier than mine, but that's OK...it was still fun to make them! As a disclaimer...this is the note I stuck on top of the dish to take around...
Max enjoyed the washed-off ham, green scrambled eggs, and green milk in a green cup!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This is why I'm laughing!

Check out Jeff's hair when we first started dating...hee hee, Soon after, he went dyed it black...and then came the shaved head, pretty much ever after. So, to answer everyone's question...no, he's not balding...he's got a full head of that stuff!
Get'em BYU cougs!

This is why I'm excited!

Today, my Great Aunt Bette came over so I could hem a pair of her PJs...I'm not a good hemmer, by the way.
Anyways, she got to talking about how she was going to sell her old, clunky sewing machine in a garage sale...oh, dear...
I said, 'Bette, don't sell it, I'll buy it from you, what kind is it...?'
Well, she said I could just have it, which I'm thrilled about, and you betcha I raced my little tookus over there as soon as Max woke up from his nap and took a look.
My mother-on-law has taught me that the oldies are the goodies...and are the only machines with metal parts...Well, this one's an oldy, and I'm hoping a goody. I'm going to take it over to a shop one of these days to see how much it would cost to get a tune up...and then, I'll have two machines and nothing can stop me. Cheryl, is this a diamond in the rough???

Gut Bomb!

The Ellsworth's have deemed the Costco hot dog as the 'Gut Bomb.' Max had his first Gut bomb for lunch today... He used to eat hot dogs when he was a teensy thing, but hasn't liked them for quite some time...I will only eat a hot dog at a baseball game, and was not looking forward to having to eat it if he ended up not liking it. So, for $1.50, Max got a gut bomb, I got a diet coke, and the world was a better place!
mmm, mmm, mmm!
ps...don't go to Costco on a monday...shoot me!

Our Little Arteest

Can you see the blue smiley face? I told him to draw a happy face
...he drew a circle, then put a mouth and about 6 eyes...
I thought it was cute.
Here's the arteest...such a dolly!

Bow Board

How are you supposed to effectively choose a bow for your outfit, without being able to see all of the possibilities???
Yet again, this was NOT my idea, but a tutorial my sister, Brandy found on the internet to hold Ivy's hair clippies. I think it turned out sooo cute, and will match her room perfectly!
The best part is, the only thing I bought was the canvas, and it was on SALE!This is how you do it...soooo easy!
Buy a regular old painter's canvas from a craft store--it doesn't matter what size, but mine is 11 x 14, I think...
using a staple gun (I used a freaking regular stapler and was cursing myself the whole time), staple a layer of batting around the canvas. (side, side, top, bottom).
Next lay your fabric of choice down and staple gun in the same manner on top of the batting.
Pick a bunch of random ribbons and staple them in rows on top of that and Voila! Masterpiece. It took me about 20 minutes, I'd say.
If you don't get my instructions, which would be my fault not yours...you can call me and I can try to explain myself better.

Don't Worry, Er...

...I try to keep Max out of our closet, because things like this happen...
but, I guess Baker's not the only boy that plays dress up...

Good Teeth? Sure.

We went to the dentist this month, Max and I...Max was having none of it! Our friend Amber, who is our hygienist could barely get a toothbrush in his mouth, let alone really clean them, or inspect them. We even bribed him with a super cool Frank the Combine toy from Target...the bribe didn't even work. Nevertheless, he was all about brushing his teeth the whole rest of the day with his new Lightning McQueen toothbrush that Amber gave him...and was proudly rockin' his anti-cavity sticker. So, he has teeth, that's pretty much all we know, but she saw no signs of decay, which is great. So what do we do? Head on down to cold stone for 99 cent cones!!! Daddy was even home for FHE last night, woo hoo!!! And, we didn't take any pictures, but we met our friends Doyle and Marie for our family night treats. We love them!!
It's a happy day when Daddy's home!

Bedtime Stories

Today, some of our friends decided to take the kids to the dollar movie!!! They had Bedtime Stories playing, so we thought it would be a fun little outing. Here is the clan that went: from left to right...Dallin, Berkleigh, Merrick, Max and Carter! We kept the kids in their strollers...and since there was hardly no one else in the theater, that was no big deal. Carter was the big boy, and stayed in his seat the whole time.

Max did great, I just had to have my arm across him the majority of the time. "Snuggling." I think he was a little nervous in some parts. Anyways, such a cute movie and so fun to go with my girly friends in the middle of the day! thanks for the fun day, girls!

Ivy's Quilt

I finally started...and finished the quilt for the wall above Ivy's Crib. Cheryl took a picture of her little corner of the room while she was here...so, here's my crazy flower quilt. I love it! I suppose she can come now that the quilt's done, if she HAS to...but I'll keep her in my tummy for as long as she'd like!

March 4, 2009

So, we went to Dland today, which was awesome because I got to see my long-lost friend Amy from the good old (520)...Maricopa, AZ...It was so fun to see her, because I think it's been like 2 years. BUT, so sad, I got caught in some serious all of a sudden rain. Although I was born in Seattle, and do have water-proof skin, my little bag didn't give much protection to the items within, and my little cherry chocolate died a tragic death.

Sooo, I wouldn't post about it, except that I now have zero phone numbers, with the exception of the people's phone numbers that are in the ward directory...hee hee. Even sadder, I don't even have my parents number, because they moved and it's no longer the Woodinville number that I've known for most of my life. So...if you're reading this, please call my phone or send me a text...and leave me a message with your phone number on it. Even if you think I'll have it...I don't. Erin...Chad...Jen Dyal...Lisa Cole...Tara...Brooke...sheesh...I can't name everyone, but I only have one of my siblings cell phone numbers, and Jeff's parents..sooo sad! Fun for me, I'll get lots of phone calls...but soooo sorry, ya'll!

stay dry!

Holy Crap!

I just realized that today is March 1st...
That means that I only have 31 days/1 month before I have 2 freaking kids...
uh, yeah. I'm hoping March goes slow... I'm so not ready to be the mom of two!
...and to make it worse, we 'spring ahead' next sunday, which gives me one less hour...right?
don't get me wrong, I'm sooo excited to meet my sweet baby girl, but...
...Holy Crap!

Grandma and Grandpa Came Over

Jeff's mom and dad came over to visit...they used the excuse that they were bringing some of our baby essentials from storage in AZ, but really they were coming to spoil Max and get their baseball fix respectively.
I can't tell you much about what Jeff and Grandpa did...they were a two-headed scouting mastermind, I'm sure, and I'll betcha that the Dbax will be calling good ole' Bean for some part-time scouting advice after this weekend...but they were gone from dawn til dusk at ballgames galore. Glad you had fun...meanwhile, Grandma, Max and I had our own idea of fun. We were so busy we didn't even break out Max's truck box once...and I know Grandma was planning on seeing her long-lost friend!Max got spoiled with some freaking cool pull-back trucks that light up...and I got spoiled...Cheryl made me this black bench that is made from Jeff's old crib...the back is the headboard, and the sides are one of the side rails...the only thing non-crib is the seat. Holy I love it.... She gave my other sister in-laws each one before I was inducted into the Mousser Family, and I've always coveted them...I can't tell you how much I LOVE my bench!!!After the spoiling...Jeff and Dean took off, and Grandma, Max and I went to Disneyland...my friends will be sad that...I got lost on the way there. I didn't have my usual navigator in my passenger seat...(kristy, maybe I'm not ready for Ivy to come after all!)
Anyways, we made it, just took a little longer than it should've and we went on all of Max's favorite rides...
Teacups...Buzz Lightyear...in which he got his most coveted toy in the whole park!...Pun-do!!!
(or Dumbo, whichever you prefer)Small World...and of course Pirates...
We had such a fun day and it was soooo nice to not have to corral Max by myself. Max loves his Grandma, and unfortunately for her...but I'm sure she was thrilled...he didn't want me to hold him (phew!) he wanted Grandma to hold him in every line. Yeah for me!On Saturday, Jeff and Dean took off again before 8AM for a full day of games (that probably sounds boring to everyone except Jeff and Dean...I think these two days ranked 1st in his top five...this couldn't have been a more fun vacation for him)...again, glad he had fun!!! The girls and Max were busy!!!
We took Grandma to a place that we've never been before in Costa Mesa. Our neighbor, Andy, flies model airplanes there, and I asked him for a map...I thought Max would LOVE to watch all the old guys playing with their mini-planes...
Grandma and Max watched while I parked the car...
It was such a beautiful day!
We got up close and personal and asked the guys how it all worked. It's actually pretty cool to watch!
I even got to fly one....holy crap, that old guy was brave...I can't even drive to Disneyland, let alone fly a freaking $1000.00 plane...
Max thought the rocks and dirt and sticks were cooler...but it was a totally cool place to go...We'll for sure go again!
After the model airplanes, we high-tailed it to our favorite eating joint: Taco Bell, grabbed us a few 'little donkeys' (bean burros) and took Grandma to our amazing park for a picnic.

Grandma's the best swing pusher...
bottoms up!
Max's way of swinging by himself: supermans! (Daddy taught him that)
We love Promenade Park! After the park we went home, Max had a nap and Cheryl and I fiddled around and then headed out to the beach.
This is Max signing 'Helicopter'...we love to watch the choppers go by when we're at the beach...it's pretty much constant.
and Grandma took him in the water...which mommy doesn't really do, but he loved it! Grandma even got her pants wet for moo....so fun!

Grandma also read to Max before nap and bedtime while she was here...which was a special treat for Max. She brought him some of Jeff's old Disney books from olden times. So fun!

We had such a fun weekend...March is going to stink!
