Dear Paw Paw

I've been practicing my skills. We have this fence in our backyard, and aside from digging in the dirt with my trucks, this is my favorite thing to do. I can see why you like climbing so much! When I get to the top, it's the perfect view of the garbage truck when it comes next door. I can see EVERYTHING from up here!
I'm getting really good at climbing, and I even say 'on belay' before I start. Do you think that you could take me and my cousins on a hike or a climb sometime, if we all keep practicing?
It would make me really happy! Love you, Paw Paw. Say hi to dolly and vixie and willow and the kitties...
love Max

Seeing Stars

My friend Rachelle lives in Beverly Hills. I've wanted to go do the walk of stars with the kids, just so we can say we've been there, and with someone that lives just down the street, it was the perfect idea to go visit her yesterday! We had such a fun time, Rachelle is AMAZING with my kiddos...and so fun to be hang out with! We took a few pictures of my favorite stars:
From my favorite movie of all time...
This was us in front of Walt Disney...
And who doesn't love Julie Andrews...
Then Rachelle treated us to lunch at this really fun kids restaurant around the corner from her house. We walked there, and I was constantly on the watch for some super star...but I didn't see any. Dang! Anyway, the restaurant was called The Tree house...and it had a huge tree house inside for the kids to play on. There were slides, and a grocery store and a little mini house, a dress up room, with mirrors and music, an art room...holy! Both Ives and Max had soo much fun...

Thanks Rachelle for SUCH a fun day!!! we love you!

square foot strawberries

Grandma and Grandpa brought a 'sandbox' that one of Jeff's brothers made for him...and never used. Grandma's the expert on square foot gardening these days, and it's contagious, so we got to go to Home Depot today and pick out our plants...
Soooo excited to get to pick our OWN strawberries this summer, and have the kids watch them grow!

a weekend with G&G

Jeffs parents got to come visit us this weekend!
They got here on Friday afternoon and left after church on Sunday.
Just a quick trip, but we LOVE to have them come visit us! We had such a fun time.
Saturday morning, we got up early and took Grandma to our favorite donut shop (Adams' Ave Donuts) to look at the old cars. Grandma taught us about fender skirts (so cool) and we even saw one that looked like a shark!
Of course, we enjoyed our donuts, too...sigh. They are so good!
Then we drove to the recycling center to cash in the load of cans and bottles that Grandpa's work has been saving for us...umm, yeah... $25.77...LOVE that!
After we helped save the planet, we did a drive-by to see the cute shop where my headbands live: it wasn't open when we were there, but I got to peek inside, and it is a CUTE little store!
Then...Lucky us, BYU baseball was playing UCR (University of California, Riverside...I think). Jeff played for BYU back in the day, so it was fun to see his old coaches, and his old team. They didn't do so great (dang!).
Ivy's first baseball game {woo hoo!}
I made her some BYU bows just for the occasion {hee hee}
Jeff had some business to attend to while we were there...you know, official scout business, so he showed Max how to work the radar gun, etc...{Max is wearing the bright green sweatshirt with the hood on}
Grandma and the kids and I didn't stay for the whole game, we made a stop at Goodwill, my MIL's new obsession, and found some really fun things to tear apart, and then we took her to M&L fabrics...oh my...too bad we had the stroller, or we wouldn't have come our for hours! Grandma treated us to a bunch of fun new fabrics!
Dinner at Sizzler topped us off, and then Grandma played trucks with Max until way past his bedtime, but that was Max's favorite part!
This is the baby Cheryl crocheted for Ivy...umm, she grabbed her and kissed her as soon as she saw her. She even has a little crocheted diaper that comes off...oh my.
Thanks for coming, guys! We miss you already and can't wait to see you in April for Ivy's birthday

a couple of before and afters...

i love this chair.
Tara, you're going to wish you hadn't given it to me...
I found this awesome can of partially used paint out in the garage. Becky, is this yours?!? I'm not brave enough to use it on something inside, as of yet, (lets face it, everything I paint is black...the turquoise dresser was a huge leap for me), but I had this awesome chair out in the garage that I thought could use yet another makeover...sigh
so, here's before:
cute, but then, here's after:
Oh...a little red pot with flowers in it...stink! so cute, I can hardly wait for the kidlets to wake up so we can go to Home Depot!
Tara, quit kicking yourself.

OK...and then I found these little kid chairs for free somewhere that I won't tell because I may go to a bad place after I die for getting them there...and my MIL had this awesome little table for years just waiting patiently in her garage for one of her daughter-in-laws to love it enough to want to take it home...
before: (well, after I sanded it down)
and after...holy stink!
I'm so excited! the chairs aren't done...in fact, the one in the picture only has one coat of paint on it, but after I finished the table, I HAD to take a picture.
i love it when Max sleeps...it doesn't happen much these days.
(I bribed him with a monster truck)
oh, and...free table, free chairs, free paint...that makes both projects even more awesome because they were all freeeeeee!

My favorite Christmas Present!

I am sooo excited to have this in my house!
Jeff's neice, Kaite, painted me this picture of Ivy and Max and gave it to me for Christmas. I was so surprised, and I LOVES it! I finally got a frame around it and put it on the shelf.
Kaite, you're amazing, thanks soooo much for doing it for me! It's my favorite.
Can you believe she's 16??
Isn't it awesome?!?

Pink Week in review

Since I was in college, my cousin Sherry and I have celebrated pink week...we wore either pink, purple or red every day starting Feb. 1-14 (so really, 2 weeks, but pink week was the best name). Anyways, I no longer have 14 pink shirts to choose from, and I thought I'd alter the tradition a little bit because Max only has 1 pink shirt. So, as to not bore you with all the details of OUR pink week...here's a little snippet of what we did! (something pink, or heart-ish every day).
ps...pink is Max's favorite color, as you know, so it was the best week EVER!
we:
-made Valentines for our cousins and Grandparents (heart hands)
-ate pink pancakes (from deceptively delicious cookbook...they were made with beets and ricotta cheese and were sooo good! and such a freaking pretty color!
-Found and roasted the hugest pink marshmallows I have ever seen...they were half the size of a diet coke can...see the comparison above to the mini marshmallows...awesome!
-took a pink tubby
-ate heart strawberries
-sponge-painted our front porch and back patio with pink hearts (sidewalk paint...so fun)
-wore all sorts of cute heart outfits, like Ive's heart tights from someone cute! (Adee)
-made some owl valentines that I've been itching to make
-and homemade oreo kisses for the daddy as a surprise...(made at enrichment last february. I think my friend Jen demonstrated the beauties...here's the recipe)
Happy Valentines day!

She's walking, I think

How do you determine what day they start walking? She took 4 steps on her own on New Years Eve at Uncle Steve's house when we stood her up in the middle of nowhere...and has been doing that pretty much ever since...(do you say she's walking...I didn't) and now she's starting to walk from object to object on her own...so is she walking now? dunno... but I think she is!
cruddy footage...sorry, just my phone!

So Busy!

I feel like I've been so busy lately...going from one thing to another, but with nothing all at the same time. But, as always, I've had a few projects finished up, so I thought I'd post them!
I found this dresser in the dumpster by our old apartment. It was old-school dark brown with the most hideous clown paper lining the drawers. Of course, I didn't take any before pictures {i hate myself} but here is an after picture--are you shocked I didn't bust out the black paint on this sucker?!? I actually used some FREE paint I got from Ucreate a while ago...such a fun project! I have more stuff waiting for me that's halfway done...get excited!
Project night was last night for our ward...My friend Laura posted on her blog about how cute this project was from Pottery Barn...and so hello...I HAD to do it! So, a couple of girls and I made little Valentine Envelopes to hang on the back of our kitchen chairs to put their Valentine goodies in. :)
So, I guess we've been hibernating, but not really...working on Valentines and the artist-formerly-known-as-enrichment stuff, preschool, and all the other fun stuff. ps...it is pink week...I'll post about that later!
