Happy Birthday, Erin!

Today is my sister's birthday!
She's the closest in age to me, so I was lucky enough to be with her at home more than my other siblings.  Probably not when we were little, but we were such good friends after I got into Jr. High, and forever more.  I always was so proud that she was my sister, and I'd brag about her all the time.  She's the most amazing mom you'll ever know.  serious.

I still feel lucky she's my sister, and still brag about her!
I love you, Er! I hope you have a splendiferous day!
(...and had to go back to steal a picture from my other sister...which makes me soooo sad, because the last time I saw her was in August of 2008!)

Today's my big brother's birthday!
I'm so lucky to have a brother like him...He's always been such a good example, he's smart, thoughtful, and best of all...he's hilarious!
love you, chaddy!  I hope you have a great day!
(pic from the last time I saw him...Sept 2010...sad!)

29 favorite things

Today, I'm 29, so I decided that I'm going to list 29 things that I enjoy...some of them may be dumb to everyone else but each of them, makes me smile!

1) Method's Wood for Good
This stuff makes me want to dust.  My friend Jillonnie introduced it to me, and it's fabulous, mostly because of it's almond scent.  yummy!  They also have them in wipes, but I haven't tried them...this is my fav!

2.) Hempz original body lotion
Another recommendation from a friend{Lauren}, but again, i love the way it smells!  I now carry a little 6oz bottle around with me in my purse as well as the big donkey bottle in my bedroom.  sigh.  loves.

3.) Favorite Perfume...Philosophie''s Falling in Love.
A client that I trained back in Tempe worked for Philosphie, and before I got married gave me a little sample of this...I've loved it ever since!  I think I got my sister hooked on it as well, right?

4.)Sweet Pork Salad
Does anyone not love Cafe Rio salad's?  I could go there every week!  I'm so glad that we have one close to us...I used to have to suffer through until we visited AZ...Pork Salad meets Costa Mesa = my fav!

5.) Sprinkles
...namely the red velvet or the chai cupcake...oh my.
and their simply plain and beautiul.  loves
6.) Bed Head's Brunette Goddess Shampoo
I must be a smell-oriented person, but this one is a beaut.  I love the smell of the bathroom while this one's goin' on.  It almost makes me want to wash my hair more often.  :)

7.) Cake Stands
I got these cake stands from Costco a while back for a really good deal.  They pretty much just make me giddy when I look at the box they're in.  It was a tough buy...one of those probably shouldn't, but really should kind of things, but I'm really glad I did.  Everything tastes better when it's on turquoise, scalloped cake plates!
8.) Late Night Snack by Jimmy Fallon
I went to one of those free ice cream days with my kids and my friend Kim...and I went out on a limb (something I don't normally do) and ordered something different than normal ( Once I know something's really good, I never order any thing else)  I tried this: Ben & Jerry's Late Night Snack ice cream...there are potato chips in it...weird, I know, but it was sooo good!

9.) I love Washington
I saw this on a blog I follow last week, or maybe the week before and I've been thinking about it ever since.  I tried to win it, and I lost.  I think I have a crush on it.  It's from this etsy shop...she has some really fun things! I'm obsessed with how creative people are with digital art...i love them!  I wish I was talented in that arena!
 10.) oh glee
...how I wish the rest of the 2nd season would come out on DVD already...I keep watching the same hilarious episodes over and over again.  we're gleeks over here.  big ones.
 11.) Favorite Actress: Reese..
.pretty much if she's in it, I want to see it.  i love her!
 12.) Favorite All-time Actress: Audrey
...funny that these pictures, I think, are supposed to look alike...fun that I love them both!  she's so classically beautiful, and i can't get enough of watching and re-watching Roman Holiday!
13.) Favorite movie of all time: Gone With the Wind.
I love this movie so much.  I still only have the VHS version, but it was actually perfect for watching while I nursed Ivy in the middle of the night.  I could turn it off wherever, and not have to worry about someone taking it out or it rewinding.  I want ivy to love this movie along with me someday!
 14.)Sally Hansen's Nail Polish Strips
My friend Kelly told me about these at the beach the other day...but it sort of went over my head...stickers? really?  Then I saw a 3 year old rockin' them at swim lessons...and her mom re-told me about them, and we high-tailed it to Target to get ourselves a pack.  I really wanted the leopard ones in the middle, but they were sold out at my Target...pretty sure Kristy Haight bought them all.  anyways, Ives and I tried the little flowery ones and they are soooo fun!  No waiting for them to dry, just stick 'em on, and go!  So fun!
oh...here's what they are:
(find them right next to the nail polish in Target)
 15.) Texas Roadhouse Rolls.
I haven't eaten here in so long, but I long for their rolls...and they're chicken strips/tenders/nuggets/whatever are amazing, too...but the rolls..Do we have these in Orange County?
16.) Bath and Body Works Wallflowers
My current favorite scent is Island Margarita.  love it.
 17.) My Diet Coke
Did you think you'd get through a favorites list of mine without seeing this:  nope. love its sparkle!
 18.) Sonic Ice
with my DC, makes it 17 times better!  We only get sonic once a week around here!  I miss my good ole' happy hour drink days in AZ!
 19.) Dior Show Mascara
I don't know what it is about this stuff...i love it.  thickens and lengthens...and it smells really good.  really, really good.  (again, what's with me liking things that smell?)  try it, you might die it's so good.
 20.) The Hunger Games,.
This is kind of old news, only because it's been around for a while and pretty much everyone's dog has already read it, but I'm reading the trilogy again, and i just really enjoy.  really, really, enjoy.
21.) The Street Sign Cricut Cartridge.
Of all of my cartridges, or the ones I have access to, I use this one, and Doodletype the most...This one's just so basic that it goes with lots of different projects.  i LOVE my cricut!  Next cartridge I want is called Simply Sweet.  check it double deck it.
22.) Bernette 56
I have a new friend...her name is Bernette and she's super fun!  My Mother-in-Law got her for me, and I'm still figuring her out, little by little, but she's so much fun, I had to add her to my list of favs!

 23.) It's a Hoot Line..
.my friend Michelle introduced me to it...I can't get enough.  There are so many amazing patterns in this one line all grouped together, and such fun colors.  It's my fav of the year!
I was pilfering through something online that was telling me which blogs in my reader I look at the most, which ones I open the most, and which posts I look at more frequently...Brown Paper Packages won.  I knew I liked it...but I guess it's my fav.  She does have a ton of really fun things going on...and i love her simple style.  So, if you haven't seen Brown Paper packages yet, go see, you might like!
 25.) Crystal Light Energy.
Some days, this has become my Diet Coke replacement.  I actually feel better about drinking it because I am actually consuming water when I drink it...which doesn't happen on my diet coke days.  I know my sister, erin is cringing right now, but the water here tastes like puke!  This makes it yummy!
These are one of those little tiny packs that you dump in your water bottle.  try it!

My mom got me this for my birthday a couple of years ago.  i Love it.  It is a stand that holds a cone of thread for sewing.  Instead of buying a ton of those little thread spools, you can buy a huge thread that will last you through eternity.  The only downfall of the cones is that they don't fit nicely on your sewing machine as the little spools do.  So, you have a stand for it, and it holds your thread up for you, so it un-winds smoothly.  I had a cheapy one from Joanns and it kept falling over, or moving...this one is Quality...i love it, and it's pretty!  check out their site if you want one, too!
 27.) Blue Hydrangeas
They remind me of Woodinville (my home town), and home, and my mom.  i love them!  Jeff and the kids just brought me home another little plant of them, and they make me smile every time I step outside.

this is obviously not mine...but Jeff got this for me after I had Max...I've worn it nearly every day since then, and obviously, I now have 2 charms, 1 with each kids name on it.  I love it, it's one of my very favorite things I own.  here's the website where he got mine.
29.) my latest obsession...you guessed it...
if you haven't check it out yet, really...it's so fun, you're missing out.  It's me and my friend, Jen's craft blog, and we're up to some really fun projects.

lite brites

a lOnG time ago, Max and Ivy's cousins gave them their old Lite-Brite's...I actually think I rescued them from their awesome DI pile...which is my favorite!  But, I think at the time, Ivy might have been just a little too small to really play with them, especially without putting the little tiny things in her mouth.
So, since then, I've just kept them in the garage, and then...oops, forgot they were there!
Sunday was like Christmas with a new toy to play with and keep the littles occupied!

it was pretty much just a free-for-all, pushing the little pegs in wherever they liked, and that was fun enough for them.  Ivy did awesome, I was so impressed.
At the end I showed Max how to follow the code to make an actual picture...he LOVED it.  So, we're playing old school stuff around here and I'm excited about lite brites!

a series of events

I'm sitting here playing BINGO with Maxer, when all of a sudden, a series of events occurred that made me laugh... I thought I'd share.

"what's that?"
 ..."heeeeey!"
"Haha, how'd that get down there?"
"get out of there you silly thing!"
 "arrrrrrgggggh"
 "yes!"
no, they weren't dirty skivs from yesterday...
when my kids go to the bathroom, everything comes off (it drives me nuts).  So, I guess when I leave it to Max to -re-get himself dressed (he dresses himself every day) this is what happens, the pants come on, and commando happens...on accident...(how do you not know that you're not wearing chonies?)
...and the wear-wears (as we like to call them) just slide on down to dream land to show up at a later time.
Ha!
glad we weren't at the mall, or something!
but it was really funny!

cheese

heehee
i love her so.

I'll do it later...but here's a sneaky peek:

we saw him...and 2 of my friends were interviewed...on his show...
yep, those are 2 of my bests: Dawn and Brooke...with AC Slater, himself...and he was sure pretty in person, let me tell you!

freezer paper shirt

I finally attempted freezer paper on my cricut...why did it take me so long???
and my friend Emily and I made our kids 'team' shirts for Max's remaining t-ball games!
I think I need to submit this idea to the real Oregon Ducks.
(we've also discovered that hair spray will keep ivy's bangs back for a minute.)
why did that take so long?!?
...The best part of the t-ball game is the tunnel the parents make that all the kids get to run through...super fun!

More Favorites from Mother's Day

You know that old saying:
When Grandma gives you Lemons...
(or life, for that matter)
 ...make Lemonade!
we did.
I'd never made fresh-squeezed lemonade before, but with a bag full of them, I thought we'd better try it out...and it was amazing!
The trick, I think, was boiling 1 cup of water, and then dissolving the cup of sugar into the boiling water before adding the lemon juice to it.  Yum!
Jeff surprised me with a bouquet of Pink Tulips on Saturday night...love it, and especially love that I had a pretty vase sent to me from the D-backs Scouting department that says: "A Mother's Love is Always in Bloom".  Those Dbacks sure treat their moms well!
....and last, but not least, I made these amazing cupcakes:

Salted Caramel Cupcakes (crack)
oh, my, their good...if you have a crush on caramel, like I have a crush on caramel, you better try them out.  You have to inject your homemade salted caramel into the fresh-out-of-the-oven cupcakes before you frost them...sigh.
want one? come over before I eat them all!
