Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween!!!
Max was a pumpkin: this is the costume that HE chose out of the catalogue...he was so excited about being a PUMPKIN... Ivy was a Chick...I blinged up her costume with some perfectly felt feet, which just made it perfect, if you ask me...
and here's our little team. Think I could get one with them both looking at me? nope Here is some of the neighborhood before we went trick or treating over at our Albertson's strip mall...awesome place for the kids to trick or treat, every store, except the dentist, passes out candy! Peter Pan and Tinkerbell (Jen made the costumes, aren't they rad?) Pumpkin Max and A swashbuckling Pirate, Addison...the cutest pirate ever!
pre-trick-er-treat
no one could stop him...he'd get his candy from one store, then turn around and say: "Lets go get some more!"
After the Trick or treating, we came home and got dressed and headed over to the Black's house for their Halloween Party, ate some Chile and Cornbread and nummy halloween treats, and chatted it up for a while until it got dark. Jeff dressed up as: Charlie Brown...hilarious, huh?
I was a non-descript witch, not worth capturing in a picture.
After the party, we stopped by our good friends the 'the Doyle's', and watched some of the World Series, and the USC game and let Max wrestle with Doyle and play with their dog. Fun Halloween! Hope everyone else had a fun and safe night!

OK, here's my exciting project.
I saw one similar to it on the back of the Pottery Barn Kids Catalogue, and wanted to do it! So, I gathered up some felt and some friends and got to work.
I love how it turned out...the picture isn't doing it justice.
Anyway, if anyone is interested in a tutorial...oh my, my very first...I'd be happy to scan the patterns, and post the ingredients and instructions. Just didn't want to go to the trouble if no one wanted it. Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

Ivy's Photo Shoot: 6mo

OH! I'm in love!
We had my friend, Kim's friend, Mae take Ivy's 6 month pictures....we just got them back today, and I love them. Thought I'd share a few of my favorites. If you live in the OC...here's her blog... she's awesome!

aren't they yummy?

Pumpkinpalooza

We had an unexpected day full of pumpkins!
This morning, Max begged to paint, so I gave him his pumpkin, and his favorite color...and let him loose. (this is becoming a tradition, as he painted pumpkins last year). Pink and purple masterpiece!
then our friends invited us to go to the Great Park Hot Air Balloon...which they turned into a HUGE Jack-O-Lantern. Tis the season, so fun!
Here's the crew: 4 adults and 8 kids.
Berkleigh, Merrick, Max and Saxon looking over the side of the balloon.

Then we sat and let the kids play on the grass for a while before heading home. We didn't bring our lunch, so we stopped on the way home and got PUMPKIN BAGELS with Pumpkin Shmear!!! oh my yum...I almost missed it this year!

Thanks for inviting us, guys!

Randomness from the Last Couple of Days

I've been working on a project for the past couple of days...Ummm, that's normal, I know, but I've been so excited about this one, that it has consumed me! Almost done with it, I'll post it tomorrow, but, because of this, we've been sort of home-bodies for the most part...
So, this is what we've been up to, aside from sewing: Dance parties to Max new favorite Hannah Montana song...Party in the USA...8 times in a row. Thanks, Kristy!
Ives has been standing around holding onto things... and crawling into things, such as her bouncer, or in this case, her box of toys. So fun, she just can't get out very gracefully.
Coloring pictures so that we can get a free order of ca-razy bread from our favorite pizza place:
or as Max calls them, they're not ta-wazy bread, they are weenies...whatever dude. (the picture in the store looked like hot dogs I guess.) Playing with Daddy a little more than usual...so fun!Ivy tried out the slide for her first time and had a bout with static electricity. hello hair.Scaling walls like PawPaw...he makes sure to say 'on belay' before he goes...good boy, moo!Playing with our friends at the park... I haven't been to the park for sooo long. weird! Kaia and Max on a snail hunt. All of my pictures came out blurry (my auto setting must not have been on! ha ha...so sad)
slime much? sick-nasty.so are the days of our lives.
stay tuned for the latest project... so cute!

Trick or Treat Bags

Alright, we are ready to trick or treat...our loot bags have been completed. Mine aren't nearly as cute as PBKids, but they will work! I'll see if I can get my MIL to embroider their names on the back after Halloween. :)
Max's Pumpkin

Ivy's Cat...
well, it looks like a bunny masquerading as a black cat, but whatever!
thanks, Tara!!

$16.03

thanks to Paul Davis Restoration and Shirley for supplying the goods, as well as to my mother and father-in-law who had to stop several times on the 6 hour trip to re-secure the goods. A few cans were lost somewhere in the desert. The environment and BYU (we hope) sure appreciate your continued efforts! hee hee. recycling for money is sooo fun!

G & G come to town!

Ivy waiting for Grandma and Grandpa Mousser to drive up... It was Grandpa's Birthday, so we had a yummy dinner at Sizzler...my dinner was so yum!
We played with Grandma, read a bunch of new books that she brought, put on a dance show, and while the kids slept, the girls crafted while the boys went out to a movie. Cheryl and I made an awesome trick or treat bag for Max...I'll post pics when I finish Ivy's!
Went waay too fast guys, next time stay longer!

Tom and Kristy's

Halloween Carving Party!
Grandma Mousser got here just in time to come with us to the pumpkinpalooza...so fun to have them here for a minute!
We love this tradition that the Haight's put on for us each year...everyone brings something pumpkin to share (how can you not love that) and we all carve our pumpkins. Our neighbors did some really fun faces...I especially loved Megan's Mickey pumpkin...you'll have to check out her blog to see those pictures, because we left the festivities early.
Jeffer did the honors...he carved us a giant Owl Pumpkin, but first, Ivy needed to pose...we thought we had a huge pumpkin, but evidently, it wasn't huge enough! (she couldn't sit down in it).

While Jeff carved the owl, I attempted a polka-dot pumpkin that I saw somewhere on the internet. I broke my melon baller in the process...dang! so I didn't get to finish it all, but you get the general idea.
You did a great job, Jeffer!
Thanks, Haights and Sullivans for throwing another fun party!

5 Little Pumpkins

When we were in Texas a few weeks ago, my sister, Brandy and I each made a flannel board.
It was too big for me to put in my bags, so she sent it to me, and we just got it in the mail!
I could hardly wait to use it, so we whipped up a story really fast that Max and Carter learned in Preschool...Max has it down!In case you don't know this one...here it is!
5 little pumpkins, sitting on a gate,
The first one said: "Oh my, it's getting late."
The second one said: "There are witches in the air."
The third one said: "But we don't care."
The fourth one said: "Lets run, lets run."
The fifth one said: "Isn't Halloween Fun?"
Then whooosh went the wind
and OUT went the lights
and 5 little pumpkins rolled out of sight!
I can't wait to do all sorts of stories, and use our flannel board for FHE lessons! so fun!

today

Last year, my friends, Kim and Kristi made the most amazing caramel apples I have ever eaten...for reals. It may have been magnified by the fact that our little mini caramel apples that we tried with the kids really didn't turn out, but Kim and Kristi's were sooo good! Anyways, I begged, whined and pleaded to be included in the caramel apple making tradition this year. Kim came over this morning, and while Hudson and Max (didn't) play(ed), Kim taught me the master craft of making the Apple Pie A'La Mode Caramel Apples. Then we tried food coloring and some candy corn, which turned out cute, too.... really, real people made this...oh my yum.
Then at noon, we joined Melody at Tanaka farms, to do pumpkin patch number 3...but this one was the best one because we got to go on a tractor ride. Here are Hudson, Max and Corban being pulled by the tractor.
We rode the tractor to the petting zoo, and had a little while to ourselves in the pen before a battery of preschoolers came in. There were cute baby goats, huge sheep and even, our favorite, Llamas! Max got butted by a goat...got knocked on his teakettle pretty good but it was sort of funny to watch...sorry, bud! (he didn't really get hurt, it just scared him...the goat was going after a different goat, Max just happened to be too close). this is the hiccuping or sneezing goat...Hudson thought he was hilarious.
This is the best picture we could get of the three of us...ha!Mel and Corban
Dirty-faced little boy that I just want to smoooch! After the petting zoo, we rode the tractor around a little bit more, explored the pumpkins that were pretty picked over by now, and then went and played in this awesome little hay arrangement...sort of maze-ish. This is Kim and Hudson.
The boys LOVED playing on the hay, and got so worn out running around and on top of it. We came home, had a little quiet time, ran to Sam's Club for some bulk oatmeal and then came home and had a dance party/wrestling match while we waited for Daddy to come home.
Ivy won the wrestling match.
and that was today.
