Arizona: the first three days

We made it! hee hee. Plan C came around and Max, Ivy and I drove to AZ alone on Wednesday morning. Miracle kids: I only stopped once to let Maxer play at the McDonalds play land while I fed Ivy. They probably hate people like us because we didn't eat there, we walked directly into the play land, and then left 45 minutes later...but, max got his wiggles out, Ivy got her fill of nummys, and then we were on the road again. We made it in 6 hours exactly, including the stop. Phew!
Day 18: McDonalds Playland (Ok, I know the dumbest thing ever, but really, Grandma was in the hospital, grandpa was at work, we just drove forever, I didn't want to make the kids sit in the car anymore on Wednesday, so our adventure was to McDonalds, but Max loved it!)
Road Trip Timeline:
8:30AM--68 degrees
9:00AM--75 degrees
10:00AM--98 degrees
11:00AM--102 degrees
12:30PM--106 degrees
2:30PM--106 degrees
Day19: Maricopa Splash Pad!
We drove to Maricopa (where we lived)...30 minutes south of PHX and got to play with our friends that we miss so much! All the kids were so big since the last time we saw them, and it was so fun to see them play again, and so fun for the moms to catch up and talk...and craft. Brooke, Tara and I made the stinkin' cutest skirts (I'll post a picture later)! I loved getting to hang out with my amazing VIP's again! Oh how I miss you girls!Max, Henry and Parker...old buddies...playing in our old splash pad!
We were so lucky when we lived down here to have this just a block from our house!
Day 20: Cafe Rio and Empire
I hit up one of my favorite stores in the morning to get some more stretchy elastic (oooooooh, so fun). 'Ribbons and Lace' is AMAZING--so sad that they don't have something like this in California...actually it's probably a good thing. multiply this 1 aisle by like 7, and you have yourself a little piece of heaven. Then it was on to Cafe Rio to have a mouth-watering one of these:

...while Max had a party with some of his cute AZ cousins. This lunch at Cafe Rio is becoming a tradition for my sister-in-law, Becky and I...The kids sit over there, we sit over here, Max loves to sit with the big kids, the girls are so cute with him: everyone is happy! Kaite, Aimee, Lexi, Julie, Max
Max took a nap at Steve and Becky's house while I took Ivy over to my cousin's to get her 3 month pictures taken. The stinker who always smiles when anyone just looks at her, wasn't in the mood today, but Michele's amazing, and I know she got some really good shots: I can't wait to see them. Then we came back to Grandma's and played for a little while...Ivy lounged in Grandpa's throne (above) while Maxer played with Daddy's old trucks, and...
...his old gear. Oh, he's so cute!
ps...hello, saguaro (so fun) After dinner, we took Max to Empire Machinery, which is a CAT dealer (I think). This is a little boys heaven, and he could not stop "oh, man"-ing!
Holy Big Digger!

Holy Big Tire!

Back-Hoe
Steam Roller...oh, and look over there! This was so exciting for him, he could not stop running around looking at all the fun machines, telling me what their names were, and squealing for joy at the sight of another cool thing. He climbed on them, pretended to drive, pointed out flat tires. We brought Max here when he was not even 1 yet, and he loved it then, but this was a whole different story!

Another fun day in AZ...by the way...it was 112 when we got back in the car at 7:30pm...yikes!

Sounds like so much fun! Can you send me the info on the truck place? I know some friends who would love to do something like that in AZ!!

Looks like you guys are having so much fun, but we are missing you. I am totally jealous of that ribbon store. I don't think I would even know what to do or where to start.

Um...I thought it was hot here yesterday at the fair when it was 80 degrees. Now I feel like a wus. Seriously 112 degrees at 7:30 pm!! I'll stay in california, thanks. :) Hope your mom in law is feeling better.

The only way I know how to respond is to comment back...so hopefully you get this info! Empire is off of the 60 in Mesa...The South-East corner of the 60 and Country Club. It's just a dealership for all those big trucks, it's not really a playground. We went after dinner: around 6:30, so it was closed up for the night, and no one to tell us to go away, but like I said, we've been there before, and asked if we could play and they didn't have a problem...hopefully that's enough info! have fun!
