The Environmental Nature Center
in Newport Beach (oh so close)
was really neat! It was a small place, but packed with really cool things to do. I had to pry Max away when it was time to go. We started out with a nature walk...saw so many spiders, dragonflies, lizards, cactus x 10, waterfalls...and some random lobster-looking thing in the water: Max found it and thought it was a scorpion...Anyway, could have done without running face to face with a certain 8-legged specimen, but it was a fun little "hike".
Inside there were a million things to do and see...lots of buttons to push, drawers to open, things to feel and smell and look at...it's a really cool place! The picture below was one of the cool things they had there: they had foot print stamps of several different animals that you could stamp in water, and then onto a slat to make tracks...max liked that. We played "I spy" max' second favorite game, to find all the hidden things in the room...snakes, hummingbirds, frogs, lizards, owls, woodpeckers. They even had little bottles to squeeze and smell (scent of bark and flowers). Just a really neat place to go.
Max tried to catch the lizards that we saw...
