100 mile club

At the beginning of the school year, we got a flyer sent home with Max, inviting him to be a part of the 100 Mile Club.  Basically, M, T, W mornings and Fridays during lunch, the kids are able to run around the soccer fields at school, counting their laps with dyed Popsicle sticks.  5 laps equates a mile, and the goal, obviously, is to reach 100 miles by the end of the school year.
That seems like kind of a lot for a 5-year-old Kindergartner, so each stick counts double for each Kindergartner.  (Max needs to get 50 miles or 250 sticks to reach his goal)
 He's been running for several months, now.  Each morning, we ask him if he'd like to run, and it's always an excited YES!  He totally takes it seriously, too, because he wears his 'running shoes' to school, and packs his regular school pair in his back-pack for when he's done.
 I will admit, that I'm totally impressed with Maxer!  So far, he's already exceeded the goal of 50 miles...in fact, he's hit more like 75 miles already, and for sure will reach the older kid's goal of 100 actual miles in no time!  In fact, not to brag or anything, but he's leading his class in miles by far!{ok, i'm bragging}
So fun!
Each morning, he runs 5 laps..if Ivy takes a lap or two with him, he only makes 3 or 4...but it's SO fun!
He gets so excited walking back to his classroom, counting his sticks.  He says: Mom, I'm a good runner, like you!  {sigh....that makes me happy!}
He's such a stud!
Way to go, Maxer!

I LOVE this idea! I'm going to have to get it to our school! We do a lot of running activities so I could see them love this.

So cute! I need some motivation to get my lazy bum movin'! Maybe if Josh starts giving me painted popsicle sticks I'll start exercising more!
