A Whale of a Day

Today was free-day at the Birch Aquarium. I've been planning to go today for forever, but I was also trying to squeeze in a trip to the Newport Beach Temple with the kids...I'll explain why later. Anyways, turns out that we were 3.7 miles, or something crazy close to the San Diego Temple, so I decided that I COULD fit in both!
Jeff remembers going to this aquarium as a kid, and keeps telling me that I should go, it being free day, I couldn't resist. It's a small aquarium, I took my stroller, but wish I hadn't because Max was out of it the whole time, and I held Ivy. Perfect size for little crazy guy. He could see and touch everything by himself, which is always the best.

Beautiful day with a teeny breeze...this is the view from the tide pools. pretty, eh?

Of course there were sharks, and of course, it was a favorite part. The Jelly fish were another favorite at this auquarium.
We had a really fun time, and Max was an amazing listener!
So, our ward's enrichment theme this month is The Temple. I thought it would be fun to get as many people from our ward to go to the temple this month, and to track it. I drew a 24 inch temple to hang on our bulletin board by the Relief Society room. I punched a bunch of blue circles to be windows, so everytime a family or a group goes to the temple, even if it's just to walk around it, they can grab a circle (a window) write their name on it, and date, or whatever, and tape it onto the temple somewhere. Hopefully, by Sept 30th, it will be filled up with windows. I just thought it would be neat to really see how many people go in a month...or don't go. It will either be a rude awakening, or really motivating, right?
So, I wanted to make sure that there was at least 1 window on the temple this Sunday when we go to church, and that's why I wanted to take the kids this week...mission accomplished and here is our proof! We'll be hanging our window up tomorrow before church!
Max, Ivy and I had a quick picnic on the grass and took a couple pictures before we started our drive back home. Again, Max was an awesome listener, and actually sat on the blanket while he ate...and he actually ate...!

Both kids zonked the whole way home, while I listened to Sheryl Crow and sipped a D.C...sigh...what a great day!

{ps...we'll see if I can bring my camera to church, along with my 30 other bags to take a picture of our naked temple...before and after pics are always fun, right? K, hop to it HB4...the world's looking at our bulletin board!}

We went to that aquarium while we were in San Diego this summer. It's perfect for little kids.
That's so fun that you had a picnic at the Temple too and your idea to see how many people can visit in one month is great!

I just love all of your pictures. By the way I am one of Jeff's friends from High School. Hope you don't mind me looking at your blog. Your two little ones are way to cute.
